Early Pregnancy care and Precautions
Before you can take care of your new baby, you need to take care of yourself and you're newborn.
1. See your doctor as soon as you suspect you are pregnant.
2. Take vitamins before birth.
3. Exercise daily.
4. Write a birth plan.
5. Change your tasks (avoid harsh or toxic cleaners and heavy lifting)
6. Track your weight gain (normal weight is 25-35 pounds)
7. Wear comfortable shoes.
8. Eat foods rich in folate (lentils, asparagus, oranges, strong grains)
9. Eat foods rich in calcium (dairy, canned fish, soy)
10. Eat more fish (except those that are high in mercury)
11. Eat fiber foods.
12. Don't eat soft cheese
13. Eat green leafy vegetables.
14. Eat five or six balanced foods every day, but don't overeat. You only need 300-500 extra calories.
15. Limit caffeine use.
16. Drink plenty of liquids and juices, drink at least six glasses of water a day.
17. Don't drink alcohol.
18. Wear sunscreen.
19. Avoid air travel.
20. Don't smoke.
21. Avoid smoke.
22. Get a good night's sleep
23. Do not treat with over-the-counter medications or herbs without medical advice.
24. Have your teeth examined.
25. Practice daily relaxation techniques (yoga deep breathing and massage)
26. Don't over-medicate.
27. Exercise but don't overdo it.
